Could you control 30,000 bikers? You could be a Volunteer for The Chicago Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade The Chicagoland Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade has become one of the most anticipated and exciting motorcycle events in America. Each year, on the first Sunday in December, thousands of motorcyclists come to Chicago to donate toys to the USMCR Toys for Tots Program and ride their bikes in "The World’s Greatest Motorcycle Parade." The Parade Organization raises funds through the sales of Chicago Toys for Tots Parade merchandise. Some of these funds are used to purchase additional toys, while some are given directly to deserving children, families, and groups who assist children. For over 30 years, The Chicagoland Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade has been a successful, exciting event, thanks to the work of hundreds of dedicated volunteers who plan and organize the annual event. We need these Volunteers to ensure that this cherished Christmas tradition will continue. We need people to assist with all aspects of Parade management, organization and preparation. As a completely volunteer organization, we need the talents of many individuals. We need planners, publicists, and writers for brochures and newsletters. We need photographers, car and truck drivers, cooks, dishwashers, product sellers, road-blockers, sidecar drivers, printers, people to collect, sort, and deliver toys, and many other volunteers in many other areas. Parade Volunteers are expected to attend the general meetings held prior to The Parade, work at The Parade, and participate in other events that the Parade Organization sponsors during the year. These events may include riding to local charities, participating in neighborhood parades and picnics, and assisting with Parade promotions at swap meets and motorcycle shows Anyone interested in becoming a Parade Volunteer is invited to attend the annual Kick-off Party in September. There folks can learn more about The Parade Organization, meet other Parade Members, and register to be part of the Parade Organization. Membership fees are $15 for all new members, and $10 annually for renewing members. The membership includes a subscription to the Parade’s Newsletter, the official Chicago Parade patch and yearly rockers, and free admission to the annual Kick-Off Party and the annual Marine Corps Birthday Party. General Meetings are held at the Stempien VFW at 4235 West 47th Street, with some special Northside Meetings held at the home of the Dunn Inn, 3456 N. Pulaski Avenue. Most meetings are held during the months prior to the Parade Day, the first Sunday in December. The meeting schedule is listed in The Parade Newsletter and is posted on The Parade Website. As a Parade Volunteer, you will prove your enthusiasm and your commitment to promote motorcycling and assist unfortunate children. Be part of Chicago’s most dynamic and diverse motorcycle organization. And remember, you don’t have to own a motorcycle to join. |
