Welcome to the
40th year of the
Toys For Tots
"The World's Greatest Motorcycle Parade" is an annual event in Chicago on the first Sunday in December.
Each year 40 to 50 thousand motorcycle riders come to Chicago to ride together and donate toys for needy children.
All motorcyclists are welcome to participate in The Parade, provided they meet the following two requirements.
Every rider must bring at least one new, unwrapped toy to donate, and each motorcycle must display a clear, unobscured license plate.
Thanks for your support, and please consider becoming a TFT Parade volunteer. It takes many hands to organize The Parade.
Help is always needed.
TOYS FOR TOTS
George "Lester" Fortier, President TFT
The position of President is up for election this year and I would be honored to be re-elected and represent all of you as your President. I have been a member of the TFT Board since 2000, first as Sergeant at Arms (the only officer ever elected as a write-in candidate), then served as your Vice President and was then elected as your President. When I became President I understood what it takes to be your President, the commitment and passion needed to be successful. I strive to treat all members with respect and I never forget that without our membership we would cease to exist. I have never missed a Board or general meeting as your President and I tried to make as many events as possible. I have always strived to have a safe and successful parade, and always made sure that we have enough money in the bank to finance next years parade. In the pursuit of my duties as your President, besides the vast amount of time it takes, I travel between 3500 to 4000 miles and I have never asked to be compensated for gas used. TFT raises thousands of dollars in donations each and every year and thousands of toys that are given to the needy children of Chicagoland, each and every member is responsible for this, one person will not take credit because it's not the person it's the organization that's been helping children at Christmas for the past 40 years. As your President I have tried to attract new and younger members to TFT, picnic's, going to as many events as I can. This year we had the art club from Morton College covering an intersection, along with students from the automotive programs from Moraine Valley and Morton College who covered a few streets. ( I am a teacher at Morton and MVCC). Myself, along with Jack Voss (with his great pictures of the Parade), submit articles and pictures to a national publication THUNDER PRESS and a few years ago we were on the cover. This was done to create awareness for our Parade. We also have a live CAN TV show, hosted by myself, Gary Diamond and John Ragan. We spend a half hour talking about our parade and what it takes to do it. Throughout the year many benefits were held at various establishments to help raise money for TFT and we also went to benefits to help children by donating toys etc.
TFT is financially healthy thanks to the hard work and dedication of our members. This year every board position up for election is being contested, this is a good thing. Ask questions of our candidates, make sure they are able to spend the countless hours it takes to be a Board member, make sure they can attend the many meetings that are needed for our parade, make sure they are financially healthy which you need to be to be on our bank accounts. And above all, make sure they have the passion for the job. If I am reelected I promise that I will do whatever it takes to insure that our parade will be successful, and that every member and participant in our parade will be respected and not subject to any type of abuse.
